2. Description of Service

10alect provides language learning tools that analyze song lyrics from YouTube videos, offering word-by-word translations, morpheme analysis, and alignment features. The Service uses publicly available subtitle data and third-party translation APIs.

3. User Accounts

3.1 Account Creation

To use certain features, you must create an account with a valid email address and password. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.

3.2 Account Responsibility

You agree to:

• Provide accurate and complete information
• Maintain the security of your password
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use
• Be responsible for all activities under your account

3.3 Guest Access

Guests may access limited features (one analysis per IP address per day) without an account. Guest usage is subject to these Terms.

4. Energy and Gems System

4.1 Energy

• Registered users receive daily energy refills
• Energy is consumed when processing new song analyses
• Cached analyses do not consume energy
• Energy has no monetary value and cannot be transferred or sold

4.2 Gems

• Gems are premium currency for enhanced features (e.g., DeepL translations)
• Gems may be purchased or earned through promotions (purchase system not yet implemented)
• Gems are non-refundable except as required by law
• We reserve the right to adjust gem costs and associated features

5. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree NOT to:

• Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
• Scrape, crawl, or automate requests beyond normal usage
• Upload malicious code or attempt to disrupt the Service
• Violate copyright or intellectual property rights
• Harass, abuse, or harm other users
• Create multiple accounts to bypass rate limits
• Resell or redistribute our Service without permission

6. Third-Party Content

6.1 YouTube Content

The Service uses YouTube's API to fetch publicly available subtitle data. You acknowledge that:

• YouTube video content is owned by respective copyright holders
• We do not host or store video files
• YouTube's Terms of Service apply to video content
• Subtitle availability is not guaranteed

6.2 Translation Accuracy

Translations and alignments are provided "as-is" and may contain errors. We use automated systems and AI models that are not perfect. We make no guarantees about translation accuracy or language learning outcomes.

7. Intellectual Property

7.1 Our Rights

The Service, including its design, code, features, and branding, is owned by 10alect and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

7.2 Your Content

You retain ownership of any data you submit (e.g., video URLs). By using the Service, you grant us a license to process and cache this data to provide the Service.

7.3 Fair Use

Our analysis of lyrics for educational purposes is intended to fall under fair use doctrine. However, users are responsible for their own use of analyzed content.

8. Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, 10alect shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service.

The Service is for educational and entertainment purposes. We do not guarantee language proficiency or learning outcomes.

The Service may display advertisements in the future through advertising partners. We are not responsible for the content of third-party advertisements.

10. Termination

You may delete your account at any time through your profile settings or by contacting us.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that:

• Engage in abusive or fraudulent behavior
• Pose a security risk to the Service
